One of the Greatest People You'll Never Meet

January 24, 2012

Left for Vietnam this morning. I did the calculations. My Tuesday was 40 hours long. My parents and cousins took me to the airport. I went in by myself to check in my luggage. The line was pretty long. My dad ended up coming inside to wait with me. We had a really nice talk about religion and growth of character. I like any chance I get to talk with my dad.

Flight to Taiwan was normal. I watched One Day. That movie was pretty sad. Wandered around the airport for a while and headed off to LAX. I watched Puss in Boots and read some of Mockingjay. I killed about 4 hours and had like 6 more to go, so I decided it was time to take my Nyquil and ktfo. After I continued reading a few more chapters, I decided it was time to sleep because I could feel the medicine overcoming me. No matter what position I sat in, I just could just not fall asleep. There was a three hour period where I was falling in and out of sleep, which was woken up by horrible turbulence. I honestly thought I was going to die, it was that bad. There were moments where I wanted to grab the old lady’s hand sitting next to me to comfort me. Ended up just staying up until the plane landed.

Josie picked me up, but had a really hard time finding me. We had a fun drive home, talking and laughing. We were going to just stop by my house so I can grab my car and go grab lunch, but Amy’s car was blocking mine and I couldn’t find her spare key anywhere. Josie took me to Theresa’s house to grab Tram’s car and I headed off to campus for my first Fellowship committee meeting and first GBM of my first active semester. A few of us headed to Denny’s afterwards, and now I’m just hanging in the apartment for the first night with all my roomies
